Dear Pookie,
Time to make like nature and sleep off the next few months. This has been a long year and even now, I still have a few classes left. I'll just sum up the semester and say it's been.... a real eye opener if ye will. I don't regret one bit of it though, because I met a lot of great, interesting people and have seen some new things while picking up a skill or two along the way.
So you may be wondering "What is Torta up to now that she's got time on her hands???" (But more than likely not, let's just use our imaginations here!)
I still have the unfinished Aerith Guard Stick. It kinda sorta wee bit *makes indication of small with fingers* got damaged on one end, so I have to figure out how to fix it. When it happened, it was a slow motion and then I wept on the floor like a peckish baby watching Chucky after an hour.
In addition, I am also attempting to make a trial sword out of foam core so I can get an idea of what to do to actually recreate ones you see in games and comics. This is of a fairly original design so, again, it is not a recreation yet.
I am still going to start up drawing comics again, it's just it will take a while to get back on track. My resources will also become scattered for a bit so that will come ito play as well. I won't be idle with it. Just give me some time.
The alternative plan for the break is that I will sleep as if I haven't rested in years. If necessary, I will fill my guts with berries and nuts (and CHOCOLATE!!!!), wrap myself in blankets and sleep off the month or two, because this opportunity may not come again until summer. Again, this is only if all the above fails.
In any case, do have a great winter break and a great new year. Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it, and those who celebrate other holidays, enjoy those as well. Here's a biscuit-that-looks-more-like-a-cookie to kick off the festivities!
Oh, and I guess you too, Pookie. In fact, POOKIE, here is YOUR gift early from me to you!
THAT'S FOR LAST YEAR!!!!

Starting over
So I have recently decided to start over with a new account as I feel I have now outgrown this one for various reasons. This new one will hopefully be much more focused and have more improved artwork as a result. I am in the process of phasing out of this account and will likely leave it dormant ( as I don't think anything will prompt me to fully delete it.)
Here is my new account in case you wish to see it. ------> !CupcakesAndBacon (https://www.deviantart.com/cupcakesandbacon)
Thanks to you few who have watched me on this account! Hope to see you on the new one. It'll be a bit sparse for a while but I promise to really bring it this time around. :meow:
Let's Support A Musician!
I'm not posting this as a regular journal entry because I want to draw a spot of attention to a musician friend of mine.
His name is David Grinnell. I've seen him perform a few times and he's pretty awesome on the guitar. He's done a lot of performances and may have a chance to perform in Austria if he can raise the funding to get there. Anyone who reads this who has a thing for fusion, rock or acoustic (or maybe your curiosity has just been stirred), go ahead and check it out! He's got a nice selection of songs and hopefully you'll find something you like.
His page is right here if you're intersted and want to know more. ---> http://www
The 2012 London Olympics
Dear Pookie,
I'm so excited about the Olympics! I saw the opening ceremony and England did quite well with the performance (which is my greatest interest). I liked the design of the torch; clever, clever! I'll be keeping an eye on the competition results for the duration of the games. I especially wish the best for our gymnastics and swimming teams.
Make us proud team USA! Bring home dat gold.....:trophy:.....medal, like a BOSS! But no matter what happens, hopefully all of the world's competitors will have fun while they are there.

A Brief Statement
Dear Pookie,
I've thought a lot about what I want to do with my art skills lately and I think I've finally decided to pretty much concentrate on photography and illustration. Why you ask? It just seems like that is what most of the things I do ultimately gravitates to (not to mention I enjoy these the most). I've discovered a strong interest in the idea of commercial photography and illustration adds another outlet of skill that is transferrable to other careers. I've tried a lot of different things over the past couple years and it seems that these two forms yield me the best results of those endeavors. So of that, my account will be more c
